What is Nutrition Medicine?

What is Nutrition Medicine?
Nutrition as the key to good health is the all-embracing fundamental principle used since the time of the famous Greek doctor and the founder of western medicine, Hippocrates. The age old adage, “we are what we eat” still holds firm in today’s hectic society where convenience is thought to be the answer to all our problems.
Poor nutrition can have an adverse impact upon our health causing deficiency diseases such as scurvy, health threatening conditions such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis.
The diet of an individual refers simply to what he eats. As a nutritionist I have a special interest in human nutrition, meal planning, and the economics of shopping and food preparation. In conjunction with your Doctor, I am trained to provide safe, evidence-based dietary advice to individuals to help prevent ill health or to correct a nutritional deficiency or adverse health state.
